The Balloon Units

Ā
Cardington has a long association with balloons with research and development working alongside the airship programme in 1916 and continuing after the R101 demise. Meteorological research had a pivotal role in balloon technology and the demands of the second world war obviously influenced the type of Balloons required.

Researching the various Units is quite a difficult task as many have similar names and a few were short lived during the war.
